Beta 1 of Scrivener for Windows is now available!
Scrivener is an award-winning program for writers which has until now only been available for Mac OS X and now, for Windows. Whereas the main tools of page layout programs and many word processors are predominantly focused on the appearance of a document, Scrivener’s tools are focused on generating content. It is not intended to completely replace a dedicated word processor but is used for structuring and writing those difficult first drafts of long texts such as novels, scripts and thesis.
I’m going to give the beta a whirl. It can be downloaded for free at:
UPDATE – 11/6/10 – It’s an early beta, and has quite a few problem with the autocorrect and spell-check, as well as other wonkiness. I’ll definitely be checking out the released version, but I can’t use this one. It is too broken.
Instead, I’m using YWriter5 and like it.
